Sina at reception was the one real bright spot. He kept checking in and trying to make sure I was comfortable, but one staff member can only do so much when the place itself has so many basic problems. The hotel is old, and you notice it in the musty smell and the outdated condition. There’s no restaurant on site, and the room service breakfast was a joke for both the amount and the quality. The owner was aggressive and seemed to have no grasp of basic hospitality. Unless you’re specifically after a vintage stay with all its downsides, or are coming for the front desk service, I’d look elsewhere.

For an Istanbul overnight layover, this has been the easiest place I’ve found. The stop is only about 30 steps away, and the H-6 or HVIST-5A bus from the airport costs a fraction of a taxi and is much more convenient. There’s a little shopping center beside the building, open until 10 p.m., plus lots of inexpensive cafes where you can eat even late. I use this area during layovers all the time, and this hotel is the most convenient one I’ve stayed at. The room was clean enough and had air conditioning. The receptionist was very polite, spoke a little Russian and good English, and didn’t try to overcharge me or push services, which is unusual with local hotels. A good, cheap night’s stay without arguing with taxi drivers or hoteliers about prices.

Everyone was attentive and kind to my wife and me, and being so close to the airport was a real plus. We had a perfect stay and will definitely come back.

The room was spacious, the beds were really comfortable, and breakfast was nice. Staff were very friendly too, and even carried our suitcases up two flights of stairs. The frustrating part was the wait for room service. They asked us to order through a WhatsApp message, which we did, but after two hours we called and then waited another half hour for the food. Also, the booking said there would be a minibar fridge and a kettle or coffee maker, but none of those were in the room.
