We arrived at the end of the season, in October, after leaving Izmir and Foca on our way to Galipoli. The car park was empty, so I wondered if the hotel was closed or if we were the only guests. My wife was right: we seemed to have the place to ourselves apart from the staff. A man came when I rang the reception bell, and after we introduced ourselves he politely offered us a room with a balcony and sea view. We took it. Our room on the third floor was big, with a great view over the grounds, pool, beach, and sea. We showered, explored the gardens down to the private beach, then sat by the pool and ordered drinks. A little later, the man asked what time we wanted dinner. At 7:30 we were the only two in the restaurant. He was Turkish and used his iPhone to translate between Turkish and English, which worked brilliantly. Thirty minutes after ordering, enough food came out to fill the table for four. Breakfast the next morning was another table full of food. The staff were lovely and smiling, the hotel and gardens were beautiful, the pool and beach were nice, and the food was tasty. You couldn’t ask for better. Brilliant.
