The rooms at Vera Pension are thoughtfully put together, and the warm conversations with Ms. Figen and Mr. Bekir made our stay feel like being at home. The breakfast at the guesthouse was delicious and filling for 200 TL, and tea and water were complimentary. Cafes, restaurants, and markets are close by, and we were satisfied with our stay overall. The hosts, a very sweet and helpful husband and wife, mentioned they would be closing this year. It’s in a central side street, in a building said to be 202 years old. Our room was a bit cramped and wasn’t cleaned daily, and there’s no air conditioning in the rooms. There is one in the common area, which made things comfortable. The days were hot, though the evenings weren’t stifling. Heat was our only issue.

We finally found a nice cafe in Ayvalık with sensible prices that haven’t been inflated. The atmosphere is great, and the desserts were tasty too. Hope they keep it this way.
