Lovely people and very nice rooms!

Has Konak Hotel is in a safe, handy spot very close to the center, and the staff were friendly and helpful. My friend and I stayed three nights during the holiday and left with mostly positive feelings. Apparently it's Cunda's oldest mansion, now run as a boutique place. Mr. Ünsal helped us with everything, including suggesting beaches. We followed his ideas and found a beautiful place to swim. It's reasonably priced, and the garden was pleasant to sit in, though there weren't any drinks available. The products at breakfast were clean and nice, and the homemade jams were a plus. But the breakfast itself was average and unchanged for all three mornings, which was disappointing on an Aegean holiday. For two people, we got half a simit and two pieces of Turkish flatbread each. The tiny boiled eggs were cold, apparently prepared in advance, and there was no egg choice. With such a small dining area, I think they could have put a bit more care into breakfast or offered more Turkish flatbread options. I also missed the delicious breakfast I usually have on an Aegean holiday. The olives were another letdown: despite the region being famous for them, they didn't seem to be genuine Ayvalık olives and were inferior. Our second-floor double room had high ceilings and was nice for an old mansion, but there had been no restoration at all. The shower and shower head were very old, and I expected a more modern bathroom. There was no bathroom window or ventilation, which made us uncomfortable. The TV was very old and had poor reception. The air conditioning worked well, but I don't think it would be possible to stay there without it. There was also no heater, refrigerator, or tea and coffee setup in the room. Outside noise was a real problem, especially from touts at the car park across the road. We kept the wooden outer window shut, but on very busy Saturday nights cars drove by blasting music until 1-2 AM. The lower-floor rooms must be even noisier.

Has Konak Hotel is a really nice option for around 500 TL a night, and I'd recommend it. The owner was attentive and very friendly, and we felt at home. The rooms were comfortable and spotless. Breakfast had plenty of variety and tasted great. It doesn't have its own car park, but there is parking directly across the road.

We spent one night in Cunda during our Ayvalık holiday and stayed at Has Konak. The owner and staff greeted us warmly and sincerely. We enjoyed hearing the mansion's history from Mr. Taner, trying Mr. Ünsal's homemade jams, and experiencing Ms. Sevinç's hospitality. The historic building has a magnificent garden and keeps its character beautifully. Our room faced the garden; we slept soundly with the window open, enjoying the breeze instead of using the air conditioning, and woke to birdsong. It's centrally located and easy to reach by public transport or car. Thank you for everything.

Mr. Ünsal was so kind and helpful throughout our holiday, and we had a lovely time chatting with him. The hotel itself is a 300-year-old mansion with a wonderful atmosphere and a very central location. Thank you! :)
