Orchis Hotel

The proprietor was very kind and helpful, and his little poodle mix, Mija, was a sweet companion. He lent me an iron, checked me out at 6 am, and was friendly throughout. The location is another strong point, with a grocery store nearby. Orchis is probably the best hotel downtown, and the price is modest. I stayed in early November, when town was quieter than in summer. I recommend asking for room 204, on the third floor toward the sea. It has a double bed, a single bed, and a small sea-facing patio. It was quieter than the garden-side rooms, and although there was live music on Friday, I couldn't hear it from inside. In summer, I would expect more noise. Sounds from next door still carried through, and footsteps in the hall made the bed shake. The room was dark, especially by the twin bed, even in daytime. The AC didn't work, though cool nights made that okay for me. Cleaning had been missed: used dental floss was on the sink, there were what looked like yellow urine stains on the bathroom floor, the fridge door hadn't been cleaned, the sheets were stained, and the faucet fixtures were heavily corroded. The handheld shower holder was broken. There were only a few hangers, and a blackout shade over the glass patio door would have helped. There were some useful things in the room: a mini fridge, hair dryer, slippers, kettle, free soap, shampoo, conditioner, plenty of hot water at all hours, and decent mattress and pillows. Someone came by every day to ask if I wanted the room cleaned. I didn't try breakfast. There is absolutely no parking near the hotel. You can park at the grocery store, but you have to pay. The streets are rough, uneven cobblestones, so wheeled luggage won't work. Be ready to carry your things through narrow streets for about 250 feet and up two flights of stairs.

We visited in April during low season with our family of four, including two teenagers. The hotel is in a backstreet away from the main road, so it was quiet at night. The small fishing village is a good place to get away from the hassle, and beautiful Conda is nearby. Breakfast is served in a pleasant outdoor area, which also functions as a restaurant. The helpful owner has turned an old soapfactory into a lovely hotel. Our room had three beds, and there are also three bed rooms. The second floor rooms have logia’s; all the rooms are spacious, with comfortable beds. We can really recommend it.

Rooms are comfortable and have the basics for a pleasant stay, though they feel average and could use more modernization and attention to decor and amenities. The facility itself is functional, but some areas seem to need better upkeep. Orchis Boutique Hotel’s strongest point is its favorable location, with easy access to attractions in the surrounding area. It’s a reasonable option for exploring, though improving the rooms and overall condition would make the stay more memorable.

The room was small but orderly, and breakfast had plenty of pastries and meze and was good. Still, there were soap residues in many places, and the sound insulation was poor, so noise was disruptive, probably because of the building's age. Parking is a major headache: there are no dedicated spots, and it cost 350 TL in cash per day on top of the room rate of about 4500 TL, since I paid in euros. Despite the high ratings, those drawbacks are significant.
