Uzunhan Hotel

This is a quiet, friendly, three-story hotel close to the beach, with clean rooms and staff available to help at any time. The two suites are well furnished and have everything you need. I’d especially recommend one of them: step out four steps and, voilà, you can jump straight into the pool. The other section has lovely flats, each with a private balcony. If you don’t get a sea view, you can enjoy the pool view instead, though you can’t dive in.

The room was spacious and the pool was clean, but the place itself wasn’t very clean. Wires were hanging from badly placed sockets, the fridge didn’t work, and the air conditioning was noisy. Staff were rude from check-in onward. When I became ill during the night, the 24-hour reception could not have seemed less caring toward a person, let alone a guest. Such a disappointment, especially since it was my only bad experience in Turkey over five months. Yours sincerely.

The beach nearby is broad and calm, not too crowded, and the water is gentle for kids. I visited in early October, when it was warm, around 21-24 degrees. The hotel looks nice, isn’t too expensive, and has large, very clean rooms, so it’s a pleasant place to spend a few days near the coast. The staff were okay, like others in Turkey.

I rarely leave Google reviews, but this was the worst holiday stay I’ve had, so I wanted to warn anyone thinking of booking. This so-called hotel seemed more like a student dorm used for visitors during school holidays. I overheard an employee talking with a father who wanted to book for his child during term time. The room was said to cost around 60€ a month, while we paid 250€ for five days in a disgusting, unhygienic room. The cleaning woman came only once during those five days, and there was no proper room service. Hair covered the bed and floor, the bathroom and toilet weren’t cleaned during our stay, the lights were very dim, the shower was dirty, and we saw some kind of bugs. There was no safe for passports and valuables, which mattered a lot to us. On Saturday night a private wedding party at the pool played extremely loud music until midnight. Our room was on the ground floor, so we heard all of it. We didn’t use the pool, but from our balcony the water already looked green. They also had a ridiculous rule against bringing your own food and drinks, which we ignored. The one good thing is the location: the city center is about ten minutes away by bus. I’d tell people not to book, even on a tight budget. Ayvalik and Sarimsakli have plenty of cheap places without an online presence. You can go there and look for small pensions or hotels in person instead.
