Guler Butik Hotel

The online photos seem very old, because they definitely don't show what this hotel is really like. My stay was a huge disappointment, and I can't recommend it. The room was dusty and very dirty, with hardly any room to breathe. The air conditioning was extremely old and didn't work properly. Towels were dirty, and the bathroom was old, in poor condition, and badly maintained. There was a bad smell everywhere. The pool was tiny, not really suitable for swimming, and didn't seem to be cleaned regularly, which felt unhygienic. The staff were unfriendly, showed little interest, and barely looked after guests.

We stayed at the Gizlikoy, which apparently is the same hotel, but nobody had told us that. When we went to reception to ask, the staff kept chatting for about five minutes before speaking to us, as if we were bothering them. The room smelled of sewage and had no towels or toilet paper. The staff seemed annoyed when guests asked for basic necessities. Around the pool, the seats were covered in mold. Breakfast was practically nothing, not even water, and the dodgy electricals made things worse. In one room the air conditioning was stuck on and couldn't be switched off. In the other, the bright ceiling lights flickered through the night. Terrible hotel, I wouldn't recommend it. Please stay away.

The gardens were pleasant, if scruffy, and the grounds had cats. The pool itself was another redeeming point, though the area around it was filthy and falling apart. The rooms were awful. Dripping plumbing made the bathroom flood, and the shower drained the wrong way, into the rest of the bathroom. The electricals and the "interesting security" were bad too. For what we paid, there's no reason to stay here. The price was embarrassingly close to other, much better hotels in the area, and I'm guessing that's all of them. It's a terrible hole. My apologies to the staff, who seem obviously very depressed.

The mountain view from the location is great, but beyond that it was rubbish. Our room smelled bad, the TV didn't work, and the rusty fittings and hanging cables looked rough. The beds weren't comfortable, and I couldn't sleep well. You can also hear your neighbours talking or snoring. There's a highway nearby, so cars and trucks make noise constantly. Breakfast wasn't the best either, just some bread, tomatoes, and tea.
