Sunland Resort Hotel Beldibi

We arrived late on the first day and went hungry. Drinks are very limited, and when I asked for a beach towel, I was told it was too late. This feels like a Russian hotel with rude, distasteful people, and the staff don’t speak English. It’s not a five-star experience, especially considering it’s in North Africa. There’s no iron in the room, and you have to pay for one. The room was dirty, with stained towels and a foul smell. I can’t wait to get home, and it’s only day 4 of 7. Even a Holiday Inn has better standards. Don’t believe the photos or the five-star reviews. Clearly, these are people used to basic standards, not real five-star service.

The pool and hotel grounds were beautiful, and I liked my room, though the bath seal needed bleaching. Other guests told us their rooms disappointed them. For me, the biggest room issue was housekeeping: over 10 nights the floor was never cleaned, so I used a towel to do it myself. The cleaner also never left water, tea, or coffee. I've been coming to Turkey for 30 years and have always had spotless rooms, so this was the worst cleaning I've experienced. The restaurant had lots of food and I found things to eat, but the tea and coffee setup needs work. British guests like a proper morning brew in a big mug, not the tiny cups they provided. Breakfast included sprouts and sweetcorn, which seemed an odd choice. It felt like the hotel hadn't really catered to British guests, though I'm usually happy to eat anything and don't like complaining. I also felt cheated by the all-inclusive offer. The bar staff seemed fed up and were very rude. Most of the staff we met were unpleasant, which was a shame given my usual experience of Turkish people as lovely and friendly. The manager was lovely and got things done, reception staff were great, and the woman serving in the outdoor dining area was pleasant too. The grounds and pool were lovely, and I did enjoy my stay, but I wouldn't return because of the staff. I like tipping when it's deserved, but I didn't tip anyone here.

Three days into my stay and I'm having a wow of a time 🥰🥰😊 The reception is great, and the staff are friendly and professional. There's plenty to do, with indoor and outdoor pools, a private beach, and even a nightclub of its own.

It's a shame because the hotel has been renovated nicely and is in a pleasant location. But the service from staff is almost nonexistent, and what we did get was rude and unprofessional. Hygiene also seems questionable. This hotel doesn't meet the standard I'd expect of a 5-star place or UAI service, in my view, and the management clearly isn't doing its job well.
