Sefa Green Hotel

A clean, affordable place, though it's outside the city.

I booked two nights hoping to be near Gölcük Nature Park, which I like, and have a chance to see Bolu for the weekend. I was sick on my way back from Ankara and couldn't keep food down. The other hotels I'd used were full, so I booked this one without checking the room first. That was a mistake. There was no air conditioning or mini-bar, the bathroom and toilet were so cramped it was hard to move, and there was no breakfast at all. The heating became a problem almost as soon as I arrived. Around 6 pm I started feeling cold, and with the hotel near the mountains I worried about the night. When I asked downstairs how we were meant to keep warm, they said it wasn't heating season and the central system wasn't on. I explained I was ill, but one person argued with me and said I could warm myself with my breath. Then they told me to get out and said we'd made a mess, so they'd take cleaning money from us. They called their son, who spent about ten minutes yelling and gossiping about us. Eventually, when they realized the booking couldn't be canceled, or that their son didn't want to lose the money, they said they'd turn on the central heating. I didn't see that person again. A young man who seemed well-meaning turned the system on, probably because he'd been told to. It ran for an hour and switched off. We went down to ask, it came back on, then shut off again. We did this three times before I finally fell asleep around midnight. They said the temperature dropped automatically, but it seemed either to lower itself or not heat up in the first place. The next day we got back around 9 pm and the radiators were icy cold. Again they said it was automatic, but it hadn't come on at all. Same thing again, and this time it shut off right around midnight. What a coincidence. This wasn't just about feeling humiliated after paying. I was on vacation and couldn't enjoy the food or places we went. The next day I checked hotels in the city center and found rooms available for less, with air conditioning, a mini-bar, a balcony, and breakfast included. I'm writing this in case someone else has a similar mental breakdown here and needs to come to their senses.

The bathroom and toilet are just as cramped as the tiny rooms, and there's no mini-fridge. With prices like these, you'd expect breakfast, but none is provided. They don't seem to care whether guests are satisfied.

We were a couple, and parking was convenient. The staff were warm and helpful throughout, and the price was in line with national averages, not as high as you might expect. It's a little outside the city, but very easy to reach. We were happy with the stay and would choose this hotel again if we come back to Bolu. Thanks.
