Yurdakul Hotel

We arrived around midnight for a late check-in, eight of us, and the staff had waited and served us dinner, even though dinner was available until 22 hours. The staff were very friendly, the rooms beautiful, and the food excellent. Everything felt new, clean, and nice, and there was free parking and excellent WI-FI. The mattresses were top quality and really comfortable. One of the best hotels I’ve visited.

The room was so cramped that you couldn’t sit on the toilet and close the door without it hitting your legs. The stay was horrible too. The a/c ran on timers, so I had to wake up at night to switch it back on, and the front desk controlled the wifi. I suspect they turned it off at night. The hallways stayed dark day and night, and several people on my tour said they found previous guests’ hair on the shampoo and conditioner bottles. Breakfast was the only meal I disliked. There was plenty of bread, but hardly any choice and none of the basics like eggs, coffee, or fruit. The hotel is near three port cities, but not close enough to walk with your family, so cabs are the only option. I was charged two different prices for the trip there and back.

The staff were nice, and the vegetarian food was good, though choices were very limited. The room and bathroom were small, there was only a thin blanket instead of a comforter, and we learned as a group that the air conditioning didn’t work in many rooms. There’s no swimming pool or bell boy service, and the hallways had no lights. Getting to the city center, sea side, or Trojan horse takes a 10-15 mins taxi ride (70 lira).

The rooms were perfect and the shower was really good. Breakfast was average, though most hotels are about the same in that respect. It felt new and classy, with lovely decor and ambience, and the price and service were amazing. I enjoyed my stay at this excellent hotel, one of the best I’ve been to in Turkey.
