I got the room for a price that pleasantly surprised me, especially after reading complaints about the rates. I hadn't booked online and had only a short phone conversation before making the trip. The bathroom was nice, and the rain shower warmed up quickly. It may not be a top-notch hotel, but for what I paid, it was worth every penny.

The balcony has a great view of the Cataksuyu river, and the rooms are good too. We also enjoyed the very good food and the hospitable staff. Compared with Catak as it was ten years ago, this is now a comfortable, modern town for visitors. One of the best places to stay in the region, and better than the hotels in Van.

We ended up spending a night in a five-bed duplex room, and I'm glad we did. The beds were clean, and the staff were helpful and polite, so we left very happy. Breakfast was generous and filling. We had considered staying at the teachers' house because there wasn't any room.

The staff go out of their way to give good service and sort out any problems you bring to them. That's why I'd recommend the hotel in Van Çatak, though I wish the prices were a little more reasonable. Judging it objectively, I'd give it four stars: the elevators are broken, and the hot water is regulated.

The food was good, and the staff prepared an early breakfast for us. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and this is a very good investment for Çatak. But there hasn't been any maintenance since the hotel was built, and the bathrooms especially need renovating. Prices are high for the area. If they don't do the necessary renovations at these prices, the place could become quite dilapidated in a few years.
