The showers were broken, though at least we had hot water. The rooms hadn't been cleaned, and there were no fresh pillow covers or towels. There were no heaters either, so I had to improvise to keep my two-year-old warm. Quite the dump!

We've usually come here in winter, and the rooms have mostly been okay. The larger rooms were cold because of heating problems, so we chose a smaller one. The hotel could use some updating. Riva is a small town, and the location is good, still close to the sea. I hope they spruce the place up soon.

We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay at Riva Hürrem Sultan Mansion and left happy with it. It's a simple but charming boutique place for a peaceful break, close to Istanbul.
