Avwan Hotel Cigli

I was there for four weeks in June. The staff were hospitable and very respectful, especially Mr. Hakan, Mrs. Munavvar, Eera and Tulay. My room was cleaned every day, everything I needed was provided, and fresh tea and coffee were free and available anytime. There was plenty of food too.

For a hotel calling itself four stars, this was far below what I expected. The neighborhood is poor and dirty, and doesn’t feel like the setting for a four-star place. I didn’t feel comfortable or safe in or around the hotel, and I feel like I wasted every penny. The bathroom smelled strongly of mold. There was mold in the shower wall corners, and the smell didn’t feel healthy. They sprayed some kind of kolonya to cover it for a few hours; one day the cleaner missed it and the smell was overwhelming. The extractor was extremely loud, and even turning on the light to use the toilet was unpleasant. The beds felt cheap and uncomfortable, and the rooms were noisy, especially because of the busy road nearby. Parking was difficult. There’s a garbage dump a street away where some hotel cars are parked, and it’s always stocked. There’s just one small elevator, suitable for two people, and the stairs are uneven and dangerous. My wife would have fallen on her first try if I hadn’t caught her in time. Please don’t come here if you have a car, or just don’t come at all. In response to the suggestion that I hadn’t stayed here: how else would I know about the uneven stairs or the extremely dry potatoes at breakfast, which I hadn’t even mentioned before? I didn’t take indoor photos, but what I said is true. I posted pictures of the surroundings because those were the only ones I had, and I think they make my point about the area not suiting a four-star hotel.

I stayed in room 105 from June 1, 2025 to June 23, 2025. The restaurant had a range of dishes at reasonable prices, and the hotel was clean. The staff were respectful and friendly, particularly Mr. Hakan and Esra, Tulay and Munevver. They were genuinely professional at their jobs.

The staff handled everything really well, from greeting us and taking our luggage to parking the car and pointing us toward a meal. They also upgraded us to a bigger room. The room was clean and comfortable, with good amenities, and both the restaurant food and breakfast were good.
