Kekik Exclusive Hotel

We enjoyed the friendly service and charming atmosphere at Kekik Restaurant, with live Turkish music adding to the evening. I asked the musician for an English song, but he only played Turkish songs. There were lots of cats around, too. We like animals, but with customers constantly feeding them, the place felt a bit like a cat canteen, which was distracting while eating. The Girit ezmesi was a highlight, delicious and well-balanced. The fava was nicely made, though its raw onion topping was too sharp and overpowered it. The kabak çiçeği dolması tasted good, but arrived too cold. Room temperature would have suited it better. We also had grilled levrek fileto. It was tasty and cooked well, but we were disappointed that the fish wasn’t weighed in front of us when we chose it, which is standard at seafood restaurants and helps build trust. Kekik is a good place with quality food and warm service, though a few things could be improved.

The food was below mediocre, and some of the mezes were inedible. We asked politely to have one uneaten meze taken off the bill, but they refused. The quality of everything we ate was very poor, including the ot kavurma we couldn't finish. A tourist trap. Avoid it.

The family-run place had a charming atmosphere, and I had the best Turkish meal of my trip there. The mezze, breads, and bites were familiar, but delicious. I especially enjoyed the firinda tahin.

Garden dining, great authentic atmosphere, and the best food and service in Eski Datca. Highly recommended.
