The rooms were clean and comfortable, and we never ran into any problems during our stays. We came to Edirne four times and chose Black tree each time because it was affordable and close to the center. The bazaar and Selimiye Mosque are an easy walk away. Metin Bey was warm and friendly, and we got along so well that we even cooked a meal together. He also took the time to answer our questions about the city and help us out. The neighborhood is old, but it feels safe, and Metin Bey is clearly well liked. I’d feel comfortable staying there again.

We came as a family and were very happy with our stay. The rooms were spacious and really clean, and we didn’t encounter any problems. Mr. Metin came across as humble and genuinely attentive to guests’ satisfaction. It’s somewhere I’d feel comfortable staying again.

I wouldn’t recommend staying here. I visited this summer and left without checking in because I felt uneasy in the neighborhood. The streets are narrow, parking is scarce, and there’s no covered hotel parking. I also didn’t see any exterior cameras, so I worried my car might be broken into. People I couldn’t identify were walking around, and I didn’t feel the car would be safe. The room price seemed very high for a single night, too. Mr. Metin didn’t seem friendly to me. At first he spoke pleasantly, but when I said I wasn’t going to stay, he became angry and upset and said things like “you can’t go,” which felt threatening.

I read the comments from Hasan Kaya and Fatih Bey and wish I’d seen them earlier, so I could have replied then. They were about me personally, although I don’t know these gentlemen, and I believe they don’t know me either. It saddens me when people comment on someone they haven’t met with intentions that don’t feel sincere. In work and in life, a person should love their Creator for the sake of their Creator. We invite them to our hotel so both sides can meet and get to know one another. If we weren’t in a secure position, the government wouldn’t have allowed this. Selimiye Hotel, Selimiye Mosque, and museums are in our area. Our neighborhood is established, three minutes on foot from the city center, and the mosque is a minute and a half away. There are camera systems inside and outside the hotel. You don’t know us or our family. Metin Uludogan

The rooms aren’t much better than a cell. There’s no shower cabin, water in the bathroom makes it hard even to reach the toilet, and the TV is broken. Mr. Metin may have to be good at his job, but I don’t believe his intentions are honest. A room that costs 490 TL was charged at 600 TL, and he sells it to people with a blunt manner, then plays his part well. He also tells them a lie about two people living on the street to make more money. It’s disgraceful from top to bottom.
