Hotel Edirne Osmanli Evleri

We were travelling with our cat, Mr, from our home in Turkiye and heading back to work in Prague. Cem, the owner’s son, gave us such a lovely welcome, and our room had a beautiful Ottoman style. Breakfast was superb, and before we left, owner Guner shared stories and wisdom with us. We’d absolutely return, though next time we’d stay longer to take in more of Edirne’s history and culture. Highly recommend 💯❤️

The people here were very friendly, and I liked the rooms, the breakfast area, and the museum. The museum is especially interesting if you care about history or have Jewish heritage. It’s also in a very central spot and easy to find when driving with Google Maps. Still, I found a few things frustrating. Local taxi drivers had trouble reaching the hotel, even when given street names, and many didn’t use Google Maps. I think the hotel could build a better relationship with the older taxi drivers who wait on the street corner. They know the area, take the shortest routes, and use the meter, instead of driving around town and stopping at shops to ask for translations or directions. There was no soundproofing in my room. Also, the hotel charged in euros. A 90 euro card charge became 90 British pounds for me, which hadn’t happened with the same card at several places in Istanbul, so it seemed to be related to the hotel or its bank. When a taxi isn’t an option, I wish the hotel could advise guests about buses, but that isn’t how they handle transport.

The host speaks English well and shared useful sightseeing tips. The hotel is tucked away, though the main attractions are close by. Rooms are set inside an old medieval building that’s still beautifully preserved. My room was decent, with free water bottles and slippers, but the toilet was pretty small. Breakfast was OK, with unlimited tea and juice. The staff were very accommodating.

The breakfast was excellent, and the price was nice too. It’s about 300 steps from the town center. Mr. Güner is a wonderful, enthusiastic person who’s happy to talk about his experience with this boutique hotel. The place feels like much more than a hotel, it’s a museum, a home, a piece of history, and a book to explore. One of the city’s unique spots 😊 Must see 👍
