Rustempasa Kervansaray Edirne Hotel

A beautifully restored place, full of more than 500 years of history. I was really impressed. The stay was reasonably priced, and I'd rate it 10+.

The building, restored superbly and dating back 500 years, is clean, and the service is good. If you want a medieval stay in a pasha's court, come to Rustem Paşa Kervansarat Hotel. Mert at reception welcomed us, showed us two rooms, one with a low entrance and one with a high vaulted ceiling. He speaks fluent English and was especially helpful. The whole staff try to help, so you'll get along with them. Enjoy!

We chose this clean, cozy hotel for its history and authentic atmosphere, but several serious problems spoiled our stay. We booked rooms on booking.com for 65,50 EUR, yet at reception we were asked for 86 EUR with no explanation. Parking was the bigger problem. Our reservation said it was free, but there were several lots nearby and no clear sign showing which one belonged to the hotel. We were assured the lot behind the hotel was the right one, so we parked there and left our keys with the parking staff. At checkout the next day, we were asked to pay 1000 Turkish Lira (25 EUR) per car for 24 hours, which contradicted what we'd been told at reception. We complained and spoke to the manager, who didn't speak English and demonstratively walked away. We ended up paying 2000 Turkish Lira (50 EUR) for the two cars. The hotel could be excellent, but unclear information from staff and what felt like a parking scam ruined the experience. I hope management addresses this and improves service for international guests.

A lovely place to spend a day surrounded by history and tradition. Breakfast was delicious and beautifully served on a single plate instead of as a buffet. One thing to be aware of: a first-floor room beside the stairs up to the second floor has a window facing the courtyard restaurant. Music can be heard in the room, and people on the stairs can see inside, which may affect privacy.
