We lasted about half an hour in the room before leaving. We’d booked two days and felt we’d wasted them. Half an hour after we left, we were itching and swelling all over. I think there may have been bedbugs or scabies, or something like that. The furniture and TV looked ancient, the TV area was covered in dust as if it hadn’t been touched for months, and the duvet looked like it hadn’t been washed in years. The wardrobe was so dirty you wouldn’t even leave a dust cloth in it. We’d told them cleanliness mattered, but the toilet was awful. You shower right there in the toilet, with no curtain or shower enclosure, and nowhere to put soap or tissues. It was a ridiculous bathroom. The owner doesn’t care about anything except money. If you want to risk catching something and have a terrible stay, go ahead, but don’t expect anything else.

Our family’s four-night stay in Akçay was horrendous, and it ruined our holiday. We stayed in apartment no. 3. The rooms were filthy, and the bathroom was disgusting. The shower didn’t work properly, so we had to crouch down and wash using the shower faucet. Dirt and food came spraying out of the sink. There was a toilet with a marble slab put over it to stop the smell from building up, and they told us to close it when bathing. The place stank. Rather than call a mechanic to clean it, they seemed to think it was just a guest’s problem. Honestly, it would have been better to shower outside. Mosquitoes were everywhere, breeding inside, and we were bitten all over. On the first night, we woke with terrible mosquito and spider bites across our bodies and faces. They charge guests but have no proper mosquito equipment. Is it so difficult to install fly screens or put repellent in the rooms? There were dead mosquitoes and blood marks on the walls. Some marks were already there when we arrived, though they may have wiped a little off. The blood they drew from us wasn’t from a murder, don’t worry, and we left our own traces too. I suspect they let dogs lie outside the room in their free time. We were officially robbed. They accept guests for money in places where dogs aren’t allowed. You didn’t misunderstand, money is given to guests. I hope Ms. Cigdem, the person in charge at work, sees this and makes changes. If not, it won’t take long anyway. We’re checking out tomorrow morning, and first thing we need to see a doctor. We’ll get a report and pursue legal action. I’m writing to warn others so there won’t be more victims. I’m including some pictures as evidence, and I’ll add them before I forget. Good luck, God willing.

The bathroom drain smelled so bad it was hard to go in there, and the room had at least 20 flies, with dead ones everywhere. They said they’d spray before we left so the flies wouldn’t bother us, but mosquitoes were still all over the place.

We only stayed one night, and the back rooms on the garden floor had no phone or internet signal. The room also smelled bad, and the shower and toilet shared a space with no ventilation. There wasn't a duvet, just a small bedspread without a cover, which wasn't enough. Since the weather was cool, they did bring us a heater :) Would I come back? I'm not sure.

The bathroom was cramped and messy, and the room felt humid and damp. It was hard to sleep there for two nights. The balcony door had no mosquito screen, so opening it for air meant mosquitoes came straight in. The air conditioner barely did anything beyond blowing air like a fan, and it pointed over a huge wardrobe, so the room never cooled down. The whole place felt very old and worn out.
