Grand See Day Hotel

The food wasn't bad, at least something went right. We were guests on a tour with SSC tur, and the reviews had made us nervous. Once we arrived, things seemed okay until the elevator surprised us: we aimed for the first floor and ended up on the third. Apparently their first floor is what most people call the third. If you're after a romantic dinner, the power cuts might add a special touch. We ate by flashlight. Back in the room, the door handle came off in my hand. The receptionist fixed it quickly, like a locksmith. The pillows smelled, though you get used to it, apparently. And if you like cold showers, this is the place for you. I hope they take these comments seriously and improve things. The photo is of the view and was taken right after leaving the hotel.

The room was filthy, and sparks came out of the hair dryer. Mosquitoes were everywhere, with dead ones and blood on the walls. The air conditioning didn't work, and the fuse kept blowing. We spent the night sweltering and fighting mosquitoes until morning. It felt like throwing our money away. The worst night I've ever had.

I picked this place because it's central and right on the road, the Izmir-Çanakkale highway. Traffic is heavy all the time, so vehicle noise during the day may bother you. As a student, the reviews before I arrived had worried me, but during my two-month stay I didn't have a power outage or cold water. My main concern was having a warm room in winter, with the region's strong, cold winds. Every day I came back to warm radiators. There's air conditioning too; I tried it and it works, but never needed it. The water is often hot even at its coldest setting, so be careful, you could scald yourself. I wouldn't leave small children unattended around it. There's no mini fridge, but I leave my drinks on the balcony and they get cold. The staff are really kind and helpful. When they see me, they say, “Come, you are a student, eat, buy fruit, tea, coffee.” Thanks to them.

We were switched to this terrible hotel at the last minute by SSC Tur. They'd first recommended somewhere nice, then changed it, and I suspect it was deliberate. I've stayed at lots of hotels and never seen one this bad. I wouldn't book a tour with SSC Tur or risk being sent here. We arrived late at night to awful food we couldn't eat, so we went hungry. Breakfast was scant and badly prepared, and we couldn't eat the olives or cheese either. The room door was broken and wouldn't read the card. We waited 30-40 minutes. They offered a different room, but it was much smaller, had no balcony and was too cramped to walk through, so we refused. They fixed the door. The toilet door was broken too and wouldn't open once shut, so they had to come fix that as well. There were mosquitoes all over the room. We caught 10-15 before trying to sleep, and the walls were covered in dead, bloody flies. We couldn't open the window, so at least there was air conditioning, but after an hour it started dripping water onto my bed like rain. I had to switch it off. I couldn't sleep from the stress. It was a nightmare, luckily we only stayed one night. Go ahead if you want an action-packed night.
