The hotel's location was the main thing that worked for us: it's in the market, has its own beach and sunbeds, and being able to go between the room and the sea easily was handy with kids. The sea was shallow and calm, which made it comfortable for families. Still, the beach was much smaller and less clean and cared for than I remember, and there was a lot of seaweed. There were also many dogs on the sand and under the sunbeds, even though the beach belongs to the hotel. When our young daughter was in the water, six dogs suddenly came in and swam beside her. She was too frightened to go back in, despite our efforts to help her get used to them. Families with children who have a fear of dogs may want to take that into account. We stayed for five days in early September, a family of five. We used to come every year until 2010, and returned this year hoping to relive those holidays. Instead, our room was a real disappointment. Some things had been renovated, but the sofas, wardrobes, bunk beds and mattresses looked as old as they had 15 years ago. Our family was bitten throughout the stay, and we suspect bedbugs. At night the wooden furniture made noises, and the sheets, blankets and pillows smelled awful and had hair on them, so we couldn't use them. The sofa covers were worn, dirty and torn. The balcony table was broken and had been tied together with a plastic bag rather than replaced. The bathroom was old and cramped, with such a strong toilet odor that it spread into the room. You could smell it by the entrance and in the stairwell too. The shower was fixed high on the wall, which made it awkward to use, especially for children coming back from the sea. The bin was broken, the drawers were dusty, and the door handle was broken and left unrepaired. There were many problems, and it's sad to see how much the place has deteriorated and been neglected over the years. I'm only speaking about the room we had, and hope the others aren't like this, so families don't end up disappointed.

We'd read the negative reviews before going and were worried, but I honestly couldn't see what those comments were based on. There were five of us staying as two families. The rooms were spotless, the kitchen had everything we needed, and the air conditioning worked well in both the room and living area. We were really happy with the service, and the receptionist made us feel so welcome that we're planning to come back next year. The beach is right there and was very clean. Thanks for everything.

The bathroom smelled so bad that we had to buy air freshener, but the place was clean and the service was friendly, so thanks for that. It's one of the best spots around here. Most rooms have at least a balcony with a sea view, and the beach is only a few steps away. 💕

Erdek is packed with buildings in a tiny area, with poor roads and hardly any gardens, sidewalks or parks. It feels crowded, damp and stuffy, as if all of Turkey had come there. Houses have been turned into apart-hotels and hotels, but the rooms are cramped, old and neglected, often with no air conditioning. They're expensive for what you get. The photos shouldn't fool you. I won't go back to Erdek. People have turned shabby houses into seaside hotels and charge as if they're five-star places. In some, they've just added a shower to the toilet and called it a bathroom. I'd rather spend the money on a proper five-star stay in Antalya than stay somewhere old, damp and stuffy. It seems to me that all the hotels in Erdek are like this. The authorities who approved so much construction and let this seaside area become such an ugly mass of buildings should be held accountable and punished.
