Infinity Amintas Apart

The only good things here are the nice terrace and the location. The quality is extremely poor. The downstairs bathroom stinks, and some rooms have no windows. If you sleep in the dorm, you have to climb stairs to reach the bathroom, which gets crowded easily. There is a kitchen, but it’s badly equipped, without even soap for washing dishes. The dorm itself is poor quality, and I met a lot of disappointed travelers here. I spent seven months travelling across Turkey from east to west, and honestly this place isn’t worth more than around 50 or 60 liras a night.

The hostel is in a great spot, with an amazing view from the terrace and really friendly staff. It feels warm and homey, and the air conditioning works for summer. I’d definitely like to come back.

This place stinks, has no windows, and isn’t even clean. We couldn’t sleep and left around midnight. Honestly, if you want to get sick, this place is 10/10. Otherwise, just don’t go. The guy is basically a scammer. And if you don’t want to experience otherworldly smells, stay away.

There were some good things about the apartment, but more negatives. It was spacious and clean, with great warm water in the shower. The roof terrace had a lovely view, and the location was nice, not too far from the harbor or restaurants. There’s also a coffee corner on the same street with good breakfast. I had two especially troubling experiences with the host. First, he messaged to say someone needed to come by for repairs while I was out. I told him I didn’t want anyone entering because my things and valuables were there. He ignored me and said he was sending someone anyway, so I rushed back. It turned out to be three young guys who wanted a tour of the apartment. The host lied to me, disregarded my wishes, and let strangers in. That was really unacceptable. There’s also a camera on the roof terrace, so you’re watched and recorded when you sit there. I found that unpleasant, and it should be disclosed on the Airbnb site beforehand. Someone actively monitors it: one morning, a piece of fabric came loose in the wind, and someone came to fix it even though I hadn’t reported it. Monitoring the camera seems the only way he could have known. Check-in was a bad start. I’m a foreigner without mobile internet. I had contacted the host the day before, but he didn’t send the key information then. He only sent it the next day while I was travelling without internet, so I never got it. Finding the apartment wasn’t easy without proper directions, and nobody was there to check me in. I tried using the apartment WiFi to contact the host, but the password he’d put on the Airbnb site was wrong. I had to carry my luggage in the heat to find a restaurant with WiFi. Only then did I get the information and manage to check in. The apartment also lacked toilet paper, hand soap, and washing machine detergent, so it wasn’t fully ready on arrival. The kitchen had just the basics. The utensils and cups in the cabinets were dirty and needed washing before use, and there was no brush or sponge for dishes. A mosque is about 20 metres away, and the bedroom-side neighbor has a rooster, so there’s very loud noise early every morning. The internet was extremely slow, sometimes only good enough for low-resolution Netflix.
