Mevlana Cave Hotel

The location is perfect, with the market and other places nearby. The rooms are cozy, the washrooms are tidy, and the guy at reception was outstanding and helpful. Everything else was fine, though they could improve the breakfast menu.

I arrived in Göreme without a booking and found the Melek because it’s within walking distance of the bus station. It turned out to be a really great place, with excellent service. I highly recommend it!

You can park outside the hotel, and it’s in a quiet spot with a perfect location for Goreme, about a 10 minute walk to the town center. We paid 1800TL for 2 nights for 6 persons. We stayed for 2 nights in the 4 bed cave and the 2 bed cave room next to each other. Both rooms were nice and clean, and stayed very cool in summer, so there’s no need for air conditioning. The staff were average, though, and breakfast was unsatisfactory. The food was left uncovered in a buffet inside a small wooden cabin with no air conditioning. By the time we got breakfast, the sausages had gone off and the cheeses had melted. Management needs a better way to serve it. At least use glad wrap and provide tongs, because this felt unhygienic and like a health risk.

Emir looked after us with so much care every day that we felt like cherished guests. When our suitcase was lost during the transfer, he helped us sort out the problem. We only asked where the ATM was, and he offered us a ride on his ATV and drove us there. We also booked excursions through him with no extra charges. He arranged everything, and we just had to enjoy them. Thank you so much, Emir! We had real rooms inside the rock. They were spacious and comfortable, with everything we needed, and were cleaned every day with fresh slippers and towels. The only drawbacks were that the shower had no partition and there was no AC. Thanks to the natural design, though, it wasn’t hot during the day or cold at night. The hotel is a real cave in the rock, though some of the rooms are imitations. Sunset Point, where you can watch sunrises and sunsets, is a 5-10 minute uphill walk away. Since the city is small, nowhere is very far. We booked rooms without breakfast, but our wonderful administrator Emir said it was no trouble to feed us. Each morning he set out cheeses, sausages, snacks, and fruit, and made us a different egg dish as the main course.
