Sunset Cave

The staff made us feel welcome, with 24-hour front desk help for local tips and changes to our daily plans. Special thanks to Mr. Haroon, Mr. Ugur, Mr. Ercan, and Mr. Saleem for their kindness. Breakfast was generous and satisfying, with cold dishes and bread plus fresh eggs and fries, unlimited well-brewed tea, and kind breakfast staff. The owner pays attention to the quality of tours, which the hotel can arrange at reasonable prices. You can email ahead to book tours, and they accept payment in euros (cash). The owner has changed for 2 months, the same owner as the Owl Hotel next door. If driving, the large free parking lot across the street is handy. Shops and restaurants are close by, the neighborhood is easy to walk around, and evening walks felt safe and relaxing. The room had a useful little entrance area, with separate living room, bedroom, and bathroom, so it felt organized and spacious. The bed was very comfortable, and we slept well. Hot water came quickly and stayed at a steady temperature, which we appreciated in the cold. The hotel sits up high, giving an open view. We enjoyed snowy scenery in the daytime and calm, special lighting at night from our private balcony, where the kids had fun playing in the snow. We enjoyed the stay and would happily return.

The breakfast was a real treat. It was freshly made in the kitchen and brought to the table, rather than served buffet style, which felt personal and special. The front office staff member was very friendly and helpful, adding a lot to our stay. Sunset Cave Hotel in Göreme has a beautiful look and lovely atmosphere. We did notice a strange smell from the bathroom sewer, which was unpleasant, though manageable since we stayed only one night. With that bathroom issue improved, it would be a wonderful place to stay.

The room was fully air-conditioned, so we didn't have to worry about heating, and breakfast was great. The service was very good too. Parking around the location is a little difficult, though it's near the family restaurant.

We had a comfortable, beautifully designed room and a great location. There's a shared terrace upstairs with a panoramic view of the city and fairy chimneys. The staff are absolute gems, genuinely caring and always doing their best to make the stay special, even helping with issues unrelated to the hotel.
