Mersoy Exclusive Hotel

We arrived at 6am and were taken to our rooms without help with our luggage. We’d paid for all-inclusive, but there was no bottled water, so we had to wait until morning to buy some. The rooms were filthy, with mould and limescale in the bath, holes in the wall, and a dirty mattress with just a sheet and no protector. My daughter’s charger went into a socket hanging off the wall with exposed wires, which wasn’t safe. A large bush blocked the view from our balcony. The food was awful with very little choice, there were no snack bars or entertainment, and the coffee machines didn’t work. Around the pool, broken tiles and other hazards were left unsupervised. The filters weren’t working, and they kept adding chemicals to clean it. The water felt gritty. I wouldn’t call this a four-star hotel. It was the worst place I’ve stayed, run down and dirty, so avoid it.

The location is handy if you want to be in the main town, close to pubs and restaurants. Some staff were nice and trying to do a good job, and Fahrettin at the main desk, who seemed to be there morning and night, really tried his best. He was the only reason we didn’t leave sooner. The rest was shocking. The food was inedible, drinks were limited and smelled of cat urine, and cat mess left on the sofa wasn’t cleaned up for four hours after we reported it. We had to change rooms three times, and found cockroaches in the second one. The hotel is next to a very lively pub, and the fire alarm had come off the ceiling. We booked through On the Beach, where it had a 4.6 rating. When we raised this with the rep, he said they lied; when I said I wanted to complain, he said they wouldn’t care. We paid £500 each, and he blamed us for booking cheap. I wouldn’t recommend this place at all.

Please don’t book this hotel. It’s advertised as four-star, but I don’t think it deserves that. There was a strong smell of damp and mould everywhere, and the lounge looked disgusting. Only one of the four lights in my room worked. I asked to change rooms and nothing happened. When I asked for the manager, the receptionist wouldn’t call him and said he was at the hospital. I also asked for my money back so I could go to another hotel, but they refused.

We had a horrible stay and had to move rooms three times because there was hair on the bed and the floor was wet. When we complained, the manager had the nerve to say, “they’re all the same,” which made us wonder if they were all dirty. The broccoli was off, the turkey was bone dry, and the drink was way too sweet. The location was nice, but I’d suggest looking at other hotels down the road.
