The rooms weren’t cleaned at all during our eight-day stay, and there was hair on the bed. Hygiene was unacceptable. The pool was always dirty, and staff couldn’t be bothered to listen when we asked for anything. Breakfast was disgusting and made me worry about getting indigestion because the ingredients were such poor quality. The air conditioning didn’t work. In the summer heat in Kusadasi, that was unbearable.

Breakfast was a letdown, with very little choice: boiled egg, pancakes, sausage, some kind of stew and chips, which seemed odd to me. There was fruit, cheese, cucumber and tomatoes, but I went out for breakfast a few times. The mattress was awful, I could feel the springs and woke up with a sore back. Hot water was hit and miss too. I mentioned it to the manager, who said the water was heated with solar panels. I said it should be red hot when it was 36 degrees outside, but it was only lukewarm. Still, it was a nice hotel, the staff were friendly and the basic rooms were clean. I enjoyed my stay, but I wouldn’t go back.

We came to Turkey twice in one month and wanted something budget friendly in a good location. This hotel was really good for the price, and we’d come back and recommend it to others. It’s three minutes from the beach, with restaurants, bars and shops nearby. The owners were great with customer service, and when we asked to move because the bar opposite was too loud for our toddler to sleep, they found us a quieter room. I’d suggest a poolside room. The staff work hard to make you comfortable. The rooms are clean, but there’s not much storage, so we lived out of our suitcases for 10 days. Breakfast is good for the price, with fresh fruit, bread, plenty of jams, tea and juice. The downside was some very loud guests who shouted and jumped into the pool, splashing everyone. On some days we used other swimming pools at bars if we bought a drink. We also saw a woman having a breakdown about not having anywhere to dry her clothes, which was frightening, especially with our toddler asking what was going on. It wasn’t the hotel’s fault, but some of the guests during our stay were feral.

We booked at the last minute and found the staff very welcoming and accommodating. The hotel has a pool and plenty of sun loungers, and it’s very close to the beach, shops and restaurants. The rooms are basic, so bring shower gel, shampoo and a kettle if you like tea. I did have to pay £65 for air conditioning and use of the safe, which was the one negative. Otherwise, it’s a nice hotel.

We’d stayed here once before, but this will be our last visit. Staff repeatedly came into our room without knocking, at 8am when we were expected at breakfast, after 4pm when I’d just showered, and at 7:30am while we were sleeping. They saw us asleep and still woke us. We paid £45 for a week of air conditioning and left the key card in while we went out for tea. When we got back, someone, either the owner or a cleaner, had been in the room and taken the card out, turning off the air con. I then noticed jewellery missing from my box. Thankfully it was cheap jewellery, but that’s beside the point. When we raised it, they said the cleaners had lost the spare room key. That made no sense, since the room had already been cleaned that day, it was 1:30am, and we had our key with us. We left the card in again the next day to check, and came back to find the room cleaned and the card still there. After that, the owner seemed to avoid us. They also ask you to leave your key at reception when you go out, even just to the pool, supposedly for the cleaners, though the cleaners already have spare keys. Breakfast wasn’t great. It’s a very repetitive Turkish breakfast that didn’t suit English guests, so we ate out a couple of mornings. The orange juice machine was always broken and never got fixed. There’s only one chair in the lobby, so we felt we had to wait for our transfer in the bar. The attached shop was a rip-off: on our first day, a woman tried to charge us 750 lira for a basic lighter. Bar prices were like those at a beachfront restaurant, but the older man working there was lovely and the only genuine worker. The pool was often full of the owner’s family and friends, who weren’t paying guests, leaving paying guests without a sun lounger or a peaceful swim. Leftover toiletries, cream and inflatables from guests were also resold at inflated prices. Outside, people kept pestering us to go into the bar or kebab shop, even at midnight, and wouldn’t take no for an answer. I’d tell people to avoid this hotel and spend more somewhere nicer. We’re recovering at home from a dreadful holiday.
