Aldem Hotel

We stayed here a few years ago, and the experience was disappointing. The hotel felt old and worn out, and the service was poor. Staff made a lot of noise, the power went out a few times, and the breakfast was low quality, with cold, hard-boiled eggs. The beds were uncomfortable too. I wouldn’t recommend staying there.

The host was extremely helpful, and breakfast was good for a very reasonable price. The rooms were nice and clean, and you can walk to the tourist and eating district in under 10 minutes, including the Mosques, Basilica Cisterns, Bazaars, and cruises. It’s a great central location.

There were large stains on both sides of the mattress in our room, 301. We booked through Airbnb and left the following morning, fortunately getting a refund for the nights we didn’t stay. The one bright spot was the receptionist on duty at 2am. He helped us turn over the mattress and remake the bed, and seemed genuinely sorry about what had happened.

Erdal looked after us really well. He showed us around, stored our extra luggage so we could tour the rest of Turkey, and arranged taxis or private cars for transfers. He also suggested some very good city tours. The hotel is in a safe area, close to the main sights and plenty of good restaurants. Our room had all the essentials but was small, and the bathroom could have been cleaner. Breakfast was delicious, and the hotel’s attention was outstanding. A good place to stay.
