Alha Apart Otel

We had a wonderful holiday and hope to return. The owner was very considerate, and the place felt safe for children. Rooms were clean and tidy, with an excellent location within walking distance of Sultanahmet, Hagia Sophia, and the Grand Bazaar. The kitchen was lovely and had everything needed to cook meals easily. The washing machine and dryer were very useful during our stay.

We booked an economy double room listed as 20 m2, but were given room 502, which was under 10 m2. The manager insisted that this was what we had booked. After we pushed, he offered room 401, a standard double facing the street, then the next morning moved us to room 402, an economy double with only a small window onto the corridor by the kitchen. The hotel description is inaccurate. These are standard hotel rooms, not apartments. There were no bathrobes, bath, or bidet. The listed seating area and desk were two stools and a tiny table, as shown in the photo. The kitchen and washing machine were shared with other rooms on the same floor, not private. On our departure day, the hotel cancelled our booking, which made it show up as cancelled and stopped us from leaving a review. I think this may have happened because we'd said we were unhappy. After several contacts with booking.com customer service, the booking was moved to past bookings and we could post. Probably many dissatisfied guests didn't go to that trouble, so the score may reflect only guests who were satisfied and many negative reviews were never written. The property's response on Booking is a lie. Booking allows reviews only from verified guests. Our photo of the room key and the manager's own office prove we stayed there.

The owner was especially helpful, extending checkout and storing our several bags for a few days. They were quick to respond to our questions and requests, too. We had a great experience at Alha Apart otel, right in the central hub of Sultanahmet. Thanks for a good stay.

I felt safe here, almost like I was in my own home. The steel doors made the rooms feel very secure, and my room was very clean. The staff were friendly and helped me get a taxi. The kitchen was useful and had all the supplies I needed, and there was a washing machine for my laundry. I loved this place and hope to come back.
