Askoc Hotel & Spa

The room got unbearably hot because the air conditioning didn't work at all, and there was no way to set it to cooling. You also can't leave it running when you go out because the room key card has to stay in the slot, and the hotel doesn't give you a second card. You already have a sauna in your room, no need for one in the hotel. Very disappointing.

I liked the pool, the respectful staff, and the neighborhood, which had plenty of restaurants and cafés. The hotel was clean and close to all the places in Istanbul. Thanks Askoç Hotel, I will back soon.

The breakfast was terrible, with limited choices and poor quality, and nothing enjoyable to start the day. Staff attitude was the most disappointing part, especially Deniz, who was rude, dismissive, and completely unaccommodating. I'm heavily pregnant and we had several bags, but nobody came to help despite multiple calls to reception. Yet when we were 15 minutes late checking out, they called to threaten extra charges. Their priorities are completely off. We were booked here by our tour agency. We'd read the mixed reviews and were skeptical, but gave it a chance. Looking back, we should've trusted our gut. We've travelled to over 43 countries and are usually pretty chill and accommodating, so this was one of our worst stays. The positive reviews seem mostly about the spa, not the hotel itself. We also felt staff were much friendlier and more helpful to Western guests than to us as Asians, an impression reflected in many reviews too. The stress and disappointment overshadowed the Istanbul trip we'd looked forward to. We genuinely regret staying at Askoc Hotel. Go elsewhere, there are better places in Istanbul where you can be treated with dignity and care.

The room's “sea view” looked out toward a metro line and concrete, so the promised view was a stretch. Service was lacking too. I expected luggage to be brought to the room at a 4-star hotel, but apparently that's a premium fantasy here. No toothbrush or toothpaste, though there were Q-tips. The food was impressively average, if mediocrity were a flavor, they nailed it. Wildly underwhelming, half a star if I could, mostly for the comedy.
