It was clean, comfortable, and well equipped, and our version had a kitchenette. Public transport connections were good too. The neighborhood has a lot going on, with shops and restaurants on every corner, including a pizza place right below the apartment and a cig kofte shop. There's a small kids' park less than 100m away, and on weekends a farmer's market sets up right next to the building. Parking is on the street. It's tucked away but still within walking distance of Galata Tower, and you can even walk across the Bosphorus to Istanbul's touristy side, about an hour away. It can be noisy, though Istanbul itself is noisy, so this isn't really a city for peace and quiet.

The hostel entrance is tucked behind Hero's Pizza. There's a nearby supermarket and a telecom shop where you can get internet cards. The Turk Telecom customer plan costs 600 TL for 20GB of data, 200 call minutes, and three months. The bus stop for the old town isn't far either. We got there just after 10 PM on our first day and called the landlord. He came quickly, opened the door, and carried our bags upstairs since the elevator was out of order. Two of the three main bulbs in our room didn't work, so we asked him to replace them, and he did so immediately the next day. The single bed in our triple room didn't have a quilt, but we found a blanket in the closet. At checkout, they helped carry our luggage down and let us leave it there until 10 PM. We were very satisfied with the stay.

The owner was extremely unfriendly. There were cameras everywhere, which made me feel very insecure and uncomfortable, and he messaged my girlfriend on WhatsApp every morning. The toilets all smelled of sewage. I asked to move rooms, but the new one smelled just as bad. When I complained, he shouted at me. The keys didn't work properly either, and I spent 10 minutes each morning trying unsuccessfully to lock my door. I warn people against this hotel. Never again.
