Cheya Gumussuyu Residence

There are small supermarkets and coffee shops right on the main street, and Taksim square is under a 10-minute walk away. The apartment was clean, modern, and spacious, and looked much nicer in person than in the photos. One drawback: they don’t provide cleaning supplies or even basic kitchen ingredients.

It’s a good spot if you want to be close to Taskim square without staying on its busy streets. The apartment was clean, with towels and slippers supplied, and it’s about a five-minute walk on roads that aren’t too hilly.

The service was very poor, and I didn’t feel treated as expected. Nothing was replenished in the apartment, not even bathroom tissue or towels, and I only got things after asking over and over. There’s no reception despite the listing saying it’s available 24/7, and no one there to help. The janitor speaks neither English nor Arabic, so it was very hard to ask her for anything. It’s also on a slope, with stairs down to reach the apartment on the other side, which I wouldn’t recommend for a family with older people or children. The whole two weeks in istanbul were really hard. Worst stay ever, it didn’t feel safe.

The flats were okay and quiet, but the hostess doesn’t speak English, and there’s no discount for paying in cash. We had to figure out ourselves how to switch on the hot water, along with a few other small issues that left a bad impression. It felt overpriced.
