Crowne Plaza Istanbul - Old City

We stayed in an executive suite, which also gave us access to the club lounge. The hotel was very clean, the breakfast buffet was large and varied, and the staff were so friendly. Special thanks to Ms Dilek & Mr Haşim at Reception. It's in a great spot near a tram station, and we had a wonderful stay.

I was back at Grand Plaza Old City from 16 Feb to 21 Feb, as a regular guest and an ihg employee, and I highly recommend it. The reception staff were helpful and attentive, and the concierge was professional and welcoming. The housekeeping manager Zilan and the whole housekeeping team were supportive and professional throughout. My room was amazingly clean. Room service was very good too, with one team member especially kind and professional. The whole team made my stay comfortable and enjoyable.

The hotel itself was very good: clean, comfortable rooms, friendly and respectful staff, and excellent work from the room service team. I would have given it five stars if not for the barber inside the hotel, who left me feeling pressured and misled. I was quoted €15 for a beard trim and €15 for face waxing. During the treatment he added a coffee and orange mask without clearly telling me its extra cost, then charged €75 in total. He repeatedly said he wasn't doing it for tips, but asked me for an additional tip at the end. The whole thing felt dishonest and manipulative. Confirm every service and price before starting. It's a shame, because the hotel deserved five stars from me, but this experience made me take one star off. One person ruined what otherwise would have been a perfect stay.

The staff were so supportive and helpful with everything we asked for, and they upgraded our room for my birthday. It was spacious, and breakfast had plenty to suit different tastes and health goals. A top notch stay. I'd stay again if I returned to Istanbul!
