Cuento Hotel

The location is the one thing this hotel has going for it. It’s poorly maintained, the rooms aren’t clean, and the breakfast wasn’t fresh. The eggs may have been a week old, and several people, me included, got food poisoning. On top of that, the staff were rude and spoke to guests with no customer service manners. I’m in my early 30s, and this is only my second Google Maps review, which shows how frustrated I was. I’d stay away, and recommend you do too. There’s nothing good here beyond the location.

The worst part was not feeling safe: staff could open the room door with a master key even when we’d locked it from inside. The rooms were small and unclean, the air conditioners were old, the TV didn’t work, and the internet was weak. We spent four days without room cleaning despite asking every day, and simple requests meant contacting agents and management repeatedly. Mohamed at reception was completely uncooperative, which made the experience worse. The staff were unprofessional overall.

We’d just checked in, and already it was a nightmare. The room was tiny, the air conditioner didn’t work, and the refrigerator was hotter than an oven. There wasn’t even a window we could open for air, and cigarette smoke from the next room was suffocating us. Reception promised someone would come in five minutes, but an hour later nobody had shown up. Don’t come here, even if it’s free, if you value your life. This is a disaster and shouldn’t be called a hotel.

The staff were mostly friendly, which was the only good thing about the place. We had no privacy. The room card usually didn’t work, and the door could be opened without a key or card. The windows wouldn’t stay shut, while the air conditioner and refrigerator were just decorations because neither worked. The room was filthy and the bed full of bugs. If you care about your hygiene or have any self-respect, stay away from this so-called hotel. Worst experience I’ve had visiting Istanbul.
