Mitra Downtown Hotel

We tried to manage for one night, but the room was filthy and the air was unbreathable. The bathroom walls were covered in mould, and the shower looked like it had never been cleaned. The lamps were barely attached to the ceiling, there were holes in the blankets, and the walls were broken. We told management about the bathroom and were assured they’d find a solution. When we came back, nothing had changed. We asked to move, but the owner said there was no other availability and told us to stay in that room. They smiled while responding and didn’t take the situation seriously. Management also denied knowing about the bathroom, though it seemed clear the problem hadn’t appeared overnight. After we left, they cancelled the reservation saying we hadn’t shown up, despite our payment receipt, and refused to acknowledge any compensation. Their airport transfer service also didn’t tell us cards weren’t accepted. When we offered the correct amount in Turkish lira, they asked if we could change it back into euros. The whole situation was terrifying, to put it mildly. Avoid this hotel, it could ruin your stay in Istanbul.

Ahmad is what made our stay at Hotel Mitra feel so special. He helped with directions, pointed us to local places we wouldn’t have found in guidebooks, and brought plenty of warmth and good humor. He clearly cares about guests and went above and beyond. Thank you, Ahmad, for making our Istanbul trip unforgettable. The location is close to major landmarks, but still quiet enough to rest after a day out. Our room was spotless, cozy, and decorated with Turkish charm. Breakfast was fresh and delicious each morning, served with a smile. Hotel Mitra felt like home, and we left with wonderful memories. Ahmad deserves all the praise.

The room was falling apart, with cables and electrical wires sticking out, walls crumbling, the toilet in bad shape, and the bed linen looking awful. After we complained to Booking about the room’s condition, which was visible in the attached photos, the owner came in, shouted at us, and attacked us. We left immediately and went to another hotel. The owner then told Booking we had never shown up, cancelled the reservation, kept all the money, and refused a refund. We’ve never had such a terrible experience. The place is in disrepair, and the photos on Booking and here are a scam, just like most of the reviews. The owner came into the room and attacked the guests.

Good value, with super friendly hosts and a really nice breakfast. It’s not a luxury place, but the price doesn’t suggest it should be. There’s parking relatively close by at Otopark.
