Danis Hotel Istanbul Old City

Emre at reception deserves a special mention. He was polite, kind, professional, and always ready to help with a big smile. The whole team made us feel at home from arrival through departure, and they put real care into organizing a wonderful boat party for my mother's birthday. The little details made it memorable for our family. The hotel was spotless, warm, and cozy, and everyone was friendly and took pride in their work. Its location is amazing, really close to everywhere in Istanbul. We loved our stay and will definitely return.

The hotel is tiny, and the rooms are much smaller than the photos suggest. Sharing one is difficult, and a double room means two twin beds. It feels like a 2-3 star place for basic needs and sleep, not a 4-5 star stay. You'll hear the call to prayer during the day, music and entertainment at night even with the windows shut, and people in the hallway. The spa is nice to have privately with family, but access costs extra and needs an appointment. There was no Kleenex in the room, so bring your own washroom supplies and essentials. It's basically somewhere to sleep while you're near tourist destinations, so keep expectations modest.

The rooms and beds were uncomfortably small, and the overall value was poor. Service made the stay worse from the outset. When I asked whether I could switch to a larger bed, I was told, “no, that’s all you get,” without anyone trying to help. The breakfast area felt crowded because it was far too small for the number of guests. Asking for anything extra at breakfast brought an additional charge, which seemed unreasonable given the quality of the stay. I wouldn't recommend this hotel. My experience was disappointing in almost every way.

I regret booking here and wouldn't recommend it. My bed was so small it felt like a child's bed, and I fell off it four times in one night. When I asked about changing rooms or getting a larger bed, staff said all their beds were the same size and offered no solution. They were rude and unhelpful throughout my stay. Nearly everything seemed to cost extra. They charged for breakfast add-ons and even a blanket, and although parking was advertised, we were told it also had an extra fee. It was a very disappointing experience. Had I read a review like this before booking, I would have chosen somewhere else. Be careful before booking.
