Dundar Hotel & Spa

The breakfast was fresh, tasty and had plenty of choices, and we looked forward to it each morning. Dundar Hotel is also so central that getting to the main sights was easy and saved us time. The staff welcomed us warmly from the start, were available whenever we needed them, and helped with a smile. Their ideas for places to visit, restaurants and getting good value while exploring Turkey made a real difference and helped us see the city in a more authentic way. The hospitality, service, food and location made our stay better than we expected. I’d absolutely recommend it and will stay again on my next Istanbul trip.

The room was on the small side but clean, and the staff were welcoming and helpful whenever I needed something. I spent eight nights here and found it good value, especially for the location. Tram and metro stops are close by, so getting around is easy. The neighbourhood is quiet, maybe a bit dead at night, but the transport links make that a minor concern. The soundproofing could be better, since I could hear noise from nearby rooms and light sleepers may find that uncomfortable. Breakfast was fine, though limited, mostly savoury, and without pastries or cakes.

The food at the hotel was awful. The toilet fan didn’t work, so the room smelled of poo all the time, and the rooms themselves stank too. We asked for clean bedding because there was hair in the bed, like it hadn’t been changed, as well as blood stains. They changed the sheets, but I found blood on them again. When we asked to switch rooms, the receptionist gave us a lot of attitude. The rooms were so appalling that we shouldn’t have needed to ask in the first place. Stay somewhere else and keep away from this hotel.

Lale was the highlight of my stay at Dundar Hotel & Spa. Before I arrived, I had a reservation problem that I couldn’t sort out through the app, but she quickly helped me over WhatsApp and was very pleasant. Once I was at the hotel, I wanted to switch rooms, and Lale took care of that too. Thanks to her, my stay was perfect. I’m grateful for her kindness and professionalism. The hotel is in a great location.
