Ferman Pera

The room was comfortable, breakfast was delicious and very traditional, and Ferman Pera Hotel is in a great spot. The clubs and restaurants nearby could make the room a bit noisy sometimes. Hayri welcomed me at reception and was always kind and nice, as were the rest of the staff. He also gave me very good tips throughout my stay. I had a wonderful time and would definitely recommend it.

The staff were friendly and did try to help, but the hotel itself made this stay miserable. I’d stayed here before when it was merely average, and it’s gone downhill badly. The rooms are tiny, suitable for two at most, so I wouldn’t book a triple room. Windows don’t open, the AC didn’t work, and we were told the central heating was broken throughout the hotel. The humidity set off my allergies for the whole trip. Noise from pubs directly below made it hard to sleep before 3 AM, and it sounded like it was coming from our room. Basic things weren’t working either. The shower tap was broken, and once I got it working, the clogged drain left water pooled in the shower. The fridge was dead, the toilet sink was dirty, and we had to call reception to clean a sticky bidet. We’d booked a double but got one blanket; when we asked for another, they said the hotel was “fully booked.” Wi-Fi didn’t work for the first three nights and was fixed only on the last day. There used to be bottled water in the room, but now there’s one bottle at reception for everyone. The lobby coffee machine barely works and spills over because it doesn’t fit the cups. The place just isn’t worth staying at now, with poor maintenance and little comfort.

The bathroom was grimy, visibly moldy, and smelled awful, and the room itself wasn’t clean either. The sheets were stained and didn’t seem to have been washed properly. Even the supplied slippers were yellowed and felt unhygienic. The hotel also looked nothing like its online photos, which came across as misleading. Management offered no useful help and showed no interest in fixing things or giving a refund. One of the worst places I’ve stayed. I’d tell people to avoid it.

The staff were the best part for us. They treated us with care and respect, and spoke English and some Russian. We also got to leave our bags at the hotel for free until evening after checkout. My friend and I stayed from 3.9.25 to 11.3.25 on a cheap reservation, and we really liked it. The location gets 10/10, especially for being near the metro. Our room was an 8/10: comfortable beds, but hardly any hangers, and the walls between neighboring rooms let through so much sound that I slept with earplugs. Cleanliness was 7/10. A nice young woman cleaned every day, changed the bed linen, mopped, and brought us water, though the towels were a little dirty. It’s a very good hotel. I hope it keeps improving.
