Fidan Suites

I’ve never had such an awful experience communicating with hotel staff. Fidan suites first told me the reservation wasn’t confirmed because of an error with the card payment. I emailed to say we wanted to cancel, but as soon as they got that message, they charged the full amount and confirmed the booking anyway. They wouldn’t consider cancellation, even after I asked again by email and through the Booking form. When I proposed changing to different dates with higher rates, they said they could do it, but wanted an extra 150 EUR on top of the regular prices for that period just for changing the dates. I didn’t agree. During our visit to Istanbul, we checked the place and found it looked very different in real life from the photos on Booking. I want hotels like this to disappear from the face of the Earth TODAY! :(

The staff were very good, and for the price the place was okay. But the location isn’t easy to find, the heater doesn’t get hot enough in winter, and it needs more cleaning. There’s no lift, and the surrounding area is very old.

There wasn’t enough bedding, and the bed itself was dirty. During our week there, nobody cleaned the room. The location felt dangerous, the view from the basement windows was horrible and scary, and the staff were uncooperative apart from one very friendly person. Nobody spoke English. I really don’t recommend this hotel.

For a cheap place to sleep in Istanbul, this is a decent option. That’s about all I’d expect from it. It’s still around a 5-7 minute walk from taksim squre and transport.
