The room was tiny, the bed itchy, and rainwater dripped down the electrical cord for the ceiling lamp. There’s no elevator, and the staircase is narrow and very steep. This isn’t a three-star hotel; it feels more like a hostel or one-star place. We arrived at 3:30 a.m. and left at 11. I’m giving two stars instead of one only because we woke the receptionist to check in. He acted like a complete a--hole about it, even after I tried to apologize. We’d told him we’d arrive after midnight, but the airport delayed us further. After seeing how grumpy he was, we booked a different hotel and returned the key. If you’re on an extremely tight budget and can put up with the discomfort, I guess the location might make it good enough.

The hostel was very quiet, but the bathroom was so dirty I couldn’t bring myself to use it. When I arrived around 10 p.m., reception was closed, even though I’d left an approximate arrival time of 9-11 on the booking* website. I called the hostel and a guy simply told me to wait another hour. What a welcome.

The hotel feels like a peaceful, quiet, steady home, even though it’s right in the heart of the city. The owner is there 24/7 and is a very friendly, kind man. You can walk to Taksim, Tophane, Karaķöy, Eminönü, and Tahtakale, and it’s very close to Şişli, Beşiktaş, Ortaköy, Nişantaşı, and Osmaniye.

A little hotel run by lovely people, and super clean. The beds were comfortable. There’s wifi, tea, and coffee in every room and at reception. Great spot too, two minutes from galata tower, five from istiklal, and ten from sultan ahmed.

For the price, it’s really good. It’s only my first day, but so far so good. I’ve got a Bosporus view, free drinking water, and a small kitchen stocked with utensils. The guy has been a big help, and the location is great.
