The location made it easy to explore Istanbul's European side and the historic sights around Sultanahmet. Staff were friendly, and having reception open 24 hours was useful when I arrived from the airport late. Breakfast was plentiful with a good range, though as someone lactose intolerant I found the cheese and dairy heavy choices limiting. Housekeeping was the main problem. Cleaning started noisily around 8 AM despite breakfast running from 7 to 10, and sometimes the room wasn't cleaned at all. A couple of times the sheets were changed but the bed was left unfinished, so I had to make it myself. I also sometimes had no bath mat or toilet paper, and once got an opened shampoo bottle that may have been used by a previous guest. During my nine nights, the room glass was never washed or replaced, which raised hygiene concerns. The furnishings felt dated, and on arrival I found stains on the bathroom floor and chocolate on the floor, probably from previous guests. The cleaning fell below what I'd expect from a three-star hotel. Still, my stay was pleasant enough, and I'd consider coming back or recommending Hotel Maya, with the housekeeping issues in mind.

Şefika Hanım made me feel genuinely welcome. She was so kind and professional, and everyone else was polite and helpful too. The hotel was cozy and clean, with excellent service throughout my stay. I'd happily return and recommend it. Thanks for the hospitality!

The location was a real plus, with tram, bus stops, and metro nearby, plus plenty of restaurants, cafes, and clothing shops around. We stayed 10 days and had good service, daily cleaning, and a nice breakfast. The beds were a little small, but it didn't bother us. We'd stay again on a future trip to istanbul.

The price was good, but breakfast got boring because they served the same thing every day. We booked two matrimonial rooms and were instead put in one triple bad room and one twin room :)) The rooms can be okay if you don't get one with a strong tobacco smell. Some had old materials and fungus, and the bathroom felt a bit cramped. The hallway smelled of tobacco too, even though smoking outside the rooms is forbidden.

Breakfast was perfect, and my room was clean with a refrigerator stocked with water. They cleaned it every day. The hotel is conveniently close to tram and metro. I had a great stay and will choose the same place next time.
