A handy option for budget travel, and you can book at the last minute. It’s near Taksim square, with plenty of bars and restaurants, and Istiklal Caddesi is a five-minute walk away. The place is nice and the people are friendly.

After four nights at the Grand Papirus Hotel, I can’t recommend it. On the last night I had to switch rooms because of bed bugs, and my body is still covered in bites. The day shift guy changed the room but did nothing to make up for the frustration. Worse, a bag went missing during the move. Watch your belongings, since there are no room safes and the hotel says it isn’t responsible for anything lost or damaged.

The area was crowded, and I could hear the other rooms very clearly. Our room was dirty and smelled of smoke. I’d give it zero stars if I could.

The staff were really friendly, and the rooms were clean. The location was great too.

I stayed for four nights in August 2015 and really enjoyed the trip. The breakfasts were great, the Wi-Fi worked well in both the rooms and lobby, and everything was clean. The workers were nice too. I’d choose this place again if I travel to Istanbul.
