HHK Hotel Downtown Hotel

The staff were kind and helpful, but I was disappointed with my stay at HHL Hotel in Istanbul from April 3 to April 6, 2026 (Room 405). There was no hot water one day, and several things in the room needed attention. Some bulbs didn’t work, the mirror light was out, and one socket was coming out of the wall. The outlets were awkwardly placed in the middle column beside the bed. The room was very cramped, as if it had been arranged just to fit a double bed. The wardrobe wouldn’t open properly, and there was no proper headboard, so my pillow kept falling off.

Osman was lovely to deal with, and the location is fantastic. The room itself was a letdown: cleaning could have been better, and there was black mould in the bathroom. The bed sagged at the sides, making it uncomfortable, and noise from upstairs plus occasional construction noise was unpleasant. Breakfast choices were limited compared with other hotels. I wouldn’t be sure about returning by choice. Those first two positives are why I gave it two stars, but the rest brought the rating down.

Even though I was only there for one night, the staff went out of their way to help. They sorted out taxis, printed documents, and gave us useful directions for getting around. I’d stay here again if I’m back in Istanbul.

The rooms were clean and had everything needed, and the restaurant served tasty food. The hospitality was amazing, and everything felt special. I’d recommend staying here. It deserves five stars.
