Lifespan Apart Otel

The location was close to a bus and metro station and marts, and the host was there for a quick check-in and check-out. But this was easily the worst accommodation experience I’ve had. We booked through Airbnb as an apartment, and the host had good reviews and pleasant photos. It was listed as Life span Taksim Hotel, not lifespan Apart Otel, so I couldn’t find it on Google. If I’d seen the Google reviews, I wouldn’t have booked. We stayed one night in a triple room booked via Airbnb. The photos speak for themselves. It was in the basement, with one large roadside window for ventilation. You have to watch that window if you open it, since cats or even people could get in, which felt very unsafe. The bathroom and ceiling were cramped and low. I’m a slim woman who’s 174 cm tall, and found it uncomfortable to move around. The room and connecting corridor reeked of smoke. There was a fairly thick layer of visible smoke in the corridor when we arrived. Even after airing the room, the smell came back and stayed all night. I had to wear a mask and keep the air conditioning on just to tolerate it. The Wi-Fi didn’t work, and the host ignored attempts to contact them. We’d unpacked and settled in already, otherwise we would have left immediately.

The owner was warm and welcoming, and even personally took care of our heavy bags. The place is centrally located and convenient for getting around. We stayed at Lifespan Harbiye when we arrived in Istanbul and again on our return, and both stays were simply outstanding. Full marks all around!

The neighborhood has a nice feel, somehow modern and historic at once. The owner was welcoming and had a great attitude. I’d come back!

We had to leave at midnight with our two small children because the apartment was so uncomfortable and smelled awful. It was covered in dust and dirt, and the odor was so bad I had to wear a mask. The electrical outlets were broken, the bathroom was moldy and dirty, and the toilet smelled like sewage. It was the worst hotel or apartment I’ve ever seen. The room barely resembled the pictures the owner sent. I didn’t take photos, unfortunately. We didn’t even stay one night, but still haven’t got our deposit back. I wouldn’t recommend anyone go there, especially families with small children. Please stay away from these scammers!
