The location is excellent, but it didn’t make up for a disappointing stay. The bathroom hadn’t been cleaned properly, and there were stains on the linens and hair on the floor. Rest was difficult too: the old air conditioning was noisy, there was no soundproofing, and I could hear everything through the pipes and loud hallway noise early each morning, around 5 AM.

The location made everything easy. Hotel Mara İstanbul is right by İstiklal Street, with lots of shops, cafés, and restaurants nearby, plus a supermarket directly downstairs. The staff were kind, welcoming, polite, and patient whenever I needed help, even with the language barrier since most speak Turkish. I stayed alone in a single room, which was clean, comfortable, and just right for a solo city trip. It felt cute and cozy, and the price was affordable. A couple of small things: the walls are thin, and the room heater and AC can be tricky to manage, especially in winter. I was there in December. I’d definitely stay again.

Hotel Mara is worth considering if you want an affordable place on Istiklal Street. The rooms are great. Ms. Rosa at reception was very accommodating, and the manager was friendly too.

We loved staying here for our 10 nights. Ecin and Rozza helped us out, and we really appreciated it. The place is handy for nightlife, F1, the Metro, Galatar, and other spots. Talarbasi Market is within walking distance, there’s a Sok grocery and a cafe nearby, and the Turkish Bath is just around the corner.

Because of the ongoing war, I had to cancel after my flight was canceled and I couldn’t travel. Twelve days later, I got a reply saying the cancellation request was declined and the money wouldn’t be refunded. Totally unacceptable.
