I’ll definitely come back. It was great value, and the staff even treated me to Turkish coffee. They also let me stay in the lobby and make calls long after checkout. Murat Bey sorted out my TV channels, and Nur Hanım helped with the wifi password and adjusted the air conditioner to my liking. Everything was very clean. I was in the Kuzguncuk room, which wasn’t the hotel’s best room, but it suited me perfectly. I was attending a wedding party across the street at Gul Sultan Yalısı, and this was my first visit to Mateo Hotel. A real find!

The rooms let in every sound from the neighbors, so getting proper sleep was difficult. At checkout, we were suddenly asked to pay for the water and coffee delivered to our room. Nobody had said they cost extra, and when we refused because we hadn't known, staff threatened to call the police. From the moment we arrived during our three-night stay at mateo hotel, the service felt rude, dismissive, and unprofessional. The staff seemed uninterested in helping us. It was a miserable experience, and I’d tell anyone considering this place to think twice.

Getting around Istanbul was easy from here. The hotel is near markets and bus stops, and the sea is about 100-150 m away. The rooms were lovely too, both in their design and service. I’d recommend it to anyone visiting Istanbul!

Çelebi, the young attendant, stood out for being so courteous and caring, and the staff were all keen to make our stay pleasant. We spent three days at Mateo, and the Dolmabahçe suite was clean, attractive, and had a lovely view. For a place right in the heart of Beylerbeyi, it would be hard to find a better option.
