Melas Istanbul Hotel

The location worked well for Beşiktaş and the business areas, with cafés and restaurants close by. It isn’t right in the main tourist district, but getting around Istanbul was easy. I had a very good stay at Melas Hotel Istanbul. The hotel is modern and very clean, with comfortable rooms, high-quality beds, and good sound insulation. Staff were professional, friendly, and always ready to help. The breakfast buffet had lots of choice and was one of the best parts of the stay. The spa, pool, and gym were well maintained too. It felt comfortable and well managed, and I’d stay here again.

The room was clean, but it smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. There was even an ashtray on the table, although I hadn’t asked for a smoking room. The bathroom looked lovely, but had a very unpleasant odor, probably from the drainage. A piece was missing from the shower door, leaving sharp edges that scratched my arms. The walls are paper thin. One night I could hear the couple next door loudly several times until 4 a.m., so I couldn’t sleep. Room service was poor too, with bland food that was often overcooked. Communication was a major problem because staff didn’t seem to understand English. I stayed at Melas Hotel for five days and was extremely disappointed. Staff were consistently rude, or perhaps there was a language barrier. No one greeted me or even offered a simple good morning during my entire stay. The breakfast buffet was horrendous. It had heavily processed meats that barely looked like real meat, some bread, and fruit, much of which was mouldy or browned. I wouldn’t recommend the hotel. Poor service, substandard food, maintenance issues, thin walls, and the generally unpleasant experience made my stay very uncomfortable.

The staff were very kind and helpful, and guest relations recommended some good restaurants and interesting places to visit. The breakfast buffet was varied and delicious. This is a new, modern luxury hotel with large, spacious rooms. They cleaned our room every day and changed the bath towels daily. Highly recommend it!

I’d like to thank Arif, the housekeeper, especially. He cleaned our room every day with such care that it sparkled after he’d been. When you arrive at Melas Hotel, please ask to be directed to the 4th floor, where Arif is stationed. We’ll remember this stay as one of our best times ever. Melas Hotel Istanbul is a comfortable choice in a central, not overly touristy area, with modern amenities and very good service. The staff, cleanliness, and breakfast were especially good, and the hotel did better than average in many key areas. Thank you, Arif!
