Mineo Hotel Taksim

I asked to change rooms, but staff said none were available. When I asked them to check, one muttered something in Turkish that we couldn't understand. In the bathroom, there was hair on the toilet seat and inside the toilet within five minutes of entering the room. The bidet started leaking as soon as it was turned on. I called staff about it, but they dismissed the problem and said a technician wouldn't be available until the next day. Definitely don't recommend.

We stayed four nights on a girls' trip and were satisfied overall. The hotel felt safe and suitable, and the staff were friendly. It's an easy, flat walk to Taksim Square. Rooms were well equipped, including a secure safe. Breakfast was decent, though seating was limited, and the bathroom could have been cleaner.

The staff were unsympathetic and unhelpful throughout, and didn't try to improve anything. When I asked about compensation, all I got was them barking, "no refund!" This was the worst hotel I've stayed in, nowhere near a four star place, one star at best. The water was shut off completely for five hours on the second day, with no warning. Each time I asked for an update, they kept changing the estimate: 30 minutes, then 10, then 20, and so on. When it came back, it was light brown and took five minutes to warm up. My room was hot at night, around 30 degrees, because the aircon didn't work. Reception just kept shouting, "no cold only hot." I reported that the swing bar lock was broken and was promised it would be fixed, but it never was. The room also wasn't soundproof, so I could hear everything outside all night. Wifi was painfully slow too, with my best speed only 5MB. At check-in, nobody explained anything about the stay, the room, checkout time, wifi, breakfast times or amenities. I had booked a double but got two single beds. Save your money and sanity and look elsewhere for accommodation.

The staff took two hours to change the four king bedrooms they'd given us to the four twin rooms we had booked at least four weeks before check-in for me and my lady friends. The room was dirty. Later, while I was in my twin room, a staff member used a master key to open the door without my permission and tried to make me move to a king room again. It was a horrible experience.
