Mövenpick Istanbul Old Town

Several buses stop right outside, and Eminönü is about a 15-minute walk away. The room was modern, very clean, and well maintained, and the staff were polite and friendly. I had a great stay and couldn't think of anything that needed improving. I'd highly recommend the hotel.

We came for a weekend with friends and would happily return to Movenpick when we're in Istanbul again. The caring service was a real highlight. The restaurant and reception staff checked in with us every day and treated us like dear friends, ready to help with all our many little problems, haha. Alper was especially polite and thoughtful, and his humor made the trip even more fun. The rooms were cozy, and breakfast was delicious. The restaurant window has a lovely view, and the rooms also look out over a great view. The hotel is conveniently placed in the center of the old town, and spa access is free. The staff were so attentive throughout.

We could hear traffic all night because the hotel is on a busy main road, and sounds from other rooms came through clearly too. The rooms aren't soundproofed. Breakfast was good, and the breakfast staff were attentive. I wouldn't stay here again or recommend it.

The lack of laundry service for a full week is a serious problem. Not everyone brings clothes for 10-12 days, and guests should be told clearly if laundry won't be available. I think the hotel should lower its rating and stars. This feels like a three-star hotel, and staying here was a mistake. The rooms are new, with nice, decent beds and towels, and the shower is normal. But the service was extremely poor. The staff didn't seem able or willing to solve problems, and everything felt lazy. I had stayed at Grand Tarabya four days earlier, where they simply collected the laundry and charged for it. Here, I ordered laundry just for socks and underwear, but they wouldn't pick it up unless we filled out a form. The phone didn't work, so we had to go downstairs each time to speak to someone. We handed in the form and told reception at 16:00. When we returned at 21:30, nobody had collected it. Then they said it would take two days, which is ridiculous. Housekeeping was poor too. I left at 12:00 with the “make my room” sign out, but when I came back at 15:54 the room hadn't been touched. The cleaning trolley had been beside my room since noon, yet no one had paid attention until I went downstairs. I don't want to keep chasing reception or housekeeping whenever we need something. The experience and room price are more like a three-star hotel, not a five-star one. The new rooms and decent shower helped a little, but I'm very sorry to have to write this. The location is okay, though there are no nearby markets or shops. That was fine for us, but it could be a problem for some people.
