Mukarnas Pera Hotel

The twin room was spacious, with a huge closet, two chairs, even pen and paper, and all the toiletries. Breakfast had plenty of variety. The hotel was quiet, sparkling clean, felt like home, and had a wonderful location. We did have trouble with the air conditioning, which shouldn’t be out of order in January. They also charged us an extra 23 euros for a towel stained red by hair dye that they said couldn’t be washed. I’ve never had that happen before. We’d gladly come back in summer 💟.

We had a good breakfast and found the staff very friendly and helpful. The cleaning lady was especially kind and welcoming. Even though the hotel is right in the heart of Taksim, just a four-minute walk from the metro, it was quiet inside, with no noise from nearby clubs, so my fiancée and I slept comfortably. It was easy to walk around at night and find good food nearby. The hotel was amazing, good value for money, and I’d love to return and recommend it.

The 23-euro charge for a towel was really disappointing. My sister has red hair, and we felt the amount was excessive and unreasonable. We’ve stayed at many hotels in Istanbul and never had this happen before. The staff did try to resolve the air conditioning problem over several nights and responded to us, which we appreciated, though the issue remained. The hotel also has a lot going for it: a great location near attractions, restaurants, and public transport, plus clean, comfortable rooms and polite, friendly, helpful staff. Still, the extra charge left a bad impression and should be reconsidered.

The breakfast buffet was the best part for me: delicious, with a range of sweet and savoury choices, including Western-style and Turkish food. The room was a decent size, clean, and comfortable, and the staff were friendly and polite. Hussein and Esraa at the breakfast counter were especially nice. I’d recommend the hotel to anyone visiting Istanbul.
