New Pera Hotel

Ridiculous. There’s no elevator, so you have to use the stairs. The bars outside are loud at night, and there was no remote control for the air conditioner in our room. The owner’s behavior during check-in was completely unacceptable. He spoke to my partner in a demanding, disrespectful way, like he was ordering us around. Then he lost his temper and raised his hand as if he wanted to hit my partner. He admitted, “I am CRAZY,” and insulted us, saying my partner is “sleeping” a beauty. I strongly warn people to avoid this hotel for their own safety and comfort.

The hotel was really good overall. The bedroom was clean, and the receptionist was helpful and friendly. It’s centrally located in taksim, so it’s easy to walk anywhere. There’s no elevator, which makes big luggage very difficult to manage, but the owner helped us. We’ll literally be back soon.

Koray and his team were very helpful, accommodating our unusual arrival times and special check-in requests. The rooms and location were great. It’d be nice to have complimentary water, but I’d definitely check them out again next time I’m back in Istanbul.

Getting around Istanbul was easy with the scooters available to rent, and they were one of the standout features for me. The rooms were spotlessly clean and well maintained. Pera Hotel is run by a family with generations of experience, and the owner personally greets guests, which made me feel welcome. The owner and staff went above and beyond to make me comfortable, with so much kindness and attention to detail. I’d gladly return on my next trip to Istanbul.
