Ramada by Wyndham Istanbul Alibeykoy

I’m staying at the hotel now, and most of my experience has been good, but breakfast today was upsetting. A kitchen staff member came over to the cheese and food station to clean and adjust items, then sneezed directly on the exposed food twice. After a third sneeze she stepped away briefly, but returned soon after without visibly washing or sanitizing her hands. She stayed near the food prep area, wiping her eyes and runny nose with her hands. The exposed food wasn’t taken away or replaced, and service carried on as usual. I lost my appetite and left the breakfast area. This seems below acceptable hygiene standards and could put guests’ health at risk. The people doing housekeeping on my floor were excellent and friendly, and reception was fine too. Check-in went smoothly and the staff were polite. But breakfast was poor all four days, both the service and the choices. Simple requests like fried eggs were difficult, with staff saying they could make them only if they had time. Once, I was told I couldn’t sit in a certain area because the manager was eating there, which isn’t acceptable for paying guests. The buffet was weak for what I’d expect from a Ramada/Wyndham four-star hotel. The hotel also uses far too much perfume for my taste. After my stay, I checked Tripadvisor and saw a lot of five-star reviews from accounts with just one review, praising the same staff. My experience didn’t match that impression. I stayed four days at Ramada by Wyndham Istanbul Alibeyköy, and it wasn’t as good as those reviews suggest.

I was here for four days while getting dental treatment, and the friendly, helpful staff made the visit easier to bear. The hotel was clean and well looked after. Public transport is just across the road, a stone’s throw away, so it was easy to get around and explore the city. I’m looking forward to coming back in September.

The nearby metro makes the room a bit noisy, but I’d still recommend this hotel for a short visit to Istanbul. I’ve stayed twice, and both times the staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and tidy, so I felt comfortable.
